Ascension: Darkness Unleashed serves as both a standalone two-player game and an expansion compatible with Ascension: Rise of Vigil and other titles. It features "Dark Energy Shards," which allow players to draw cards and accumulate energy, and introduces new Energize cards that transform into more powerful versions of themselves based on energy played. Additional unique cards, like "Erabus, the Exiled," can also be added to your hand upon defeat.
