The game is played on a 10 by 10 square grid, where each player starts with four amazons, which move like chess queens but cannot capture. On their turn, a player moves an amazon and fires an arrow from its new position, establishing a permanent block that prevents movement through it. The player unable to make a legal move loses the game.
