However, by the 5th century, political corruption, economic turmoil, and stretched military resources weakened it, allowing barbarian invasions. In Pandemic: Fall of Rome, players must collaborate, recruit armies, and forge alliances to prevent Rome's fall. The game includes a solo mode and a "Roma Caput Mundi" challenge for added difficulty, where players must protect the Empire from invaders while adhering to Roman laws that restrict legions within the city.
