Citadels

In Citadels, players assume different roles each round to hire characters that help them gather gold and construct buildings. The game concludes when a player builds their seventh building, at which point players calculate scores, and the highest scorer wins. Players start with building cards of five colors, with purple buildings offering special abilities. Each round begins with the previous king discarding a character card and selecting one, followed by others, each choosing secretly. Characters execute actions based on their abilities, such as the assassin or thief sabotaging opponents. The 2016 edition includes twenty-seven characters and thirty unique building districts, with various preset lists fostering different gameplay styles.
