In the early days of the SMC era, skepticism arose within society as morality waned. To address this, a system named Mother was created, capable of mimicking human emotions and ideals. Citizens of Sapporo underwent experiments via neural implants called "harvests," turning much of the populace into obedient automatons, while a rebellious few, known as "Renegades," resisted and thrived underground. In the board game Renegade, players embody these outcasts, hacking servers run by Super-Massive-Computers to claim control and upgrade their abilities while navigating a dangerous underground scene.
